This starter kit is all you need to brew a proper, authentic pot of chai.
The enamelled pan, a product of Riess, an Austrian company with a rich history in cookware since 1550, is a testament to quality and durability. Its great depth ensures your chai won't bubble over, and the long handle and efficient spout add to its functionality. Plus, it's produced in an environmentally friendly manner.
The sieve is, well, a sieve! Its deep curvature makes straining the tea practical. I had no bits of tea in the bottom of my cup; take that how you will.
The chai is goodāI mean really good. It's not too sweet, not too bitter, and not too spicyāa fantastic blend of authentic flavours. The tea and masala blend come in separate, resealable bags. I prefer this because it gives me far more control over my tea-to-spices ratio. I was a bit dubious about the CTC tea. I am used to full tea leaves, but this Assam tea did not disappoint me. It was malty, rich and delicious. It came as no surprise after reading about organic, single-estate farming and the fact that only the top two leaves and bud are picked (The leaves packed with the most flavour & oils). It held up its own with the spices and was a fantastic base upon which to build.
Another huge boon for me is that I am supporting a British business and a business that values sustainability, economic equality, customers and quality tea, spices and products.
